Does Your Watch Need To Be Demagnetized?

Generally, you’ll know demagnetization is worth a shot if your watch has suddenly started running very fast or has recently become very erratic in terms of the length of the power reserve and the watch's accuracy over that period of time. At this point, you will need to use the TICFROG Watch Degaussing Tool to demagnetize your watch so that your watch can function properly.

How To Test If Your Watch Is Magnetized？

To test if your watch is indeed magnetised, you can simply take a compass (a digital compass or app on your phone will suffice) and slowly move the watch towards it. If the watch causes the compass needle to move significantly, then your watch is magnetised.

Use The Compass To Test If The Watch Is Magnetized

Place the compass flat and let the watch sweep over the compass immediately and change direction several times to repeat the test. If the compass keeps shaking, it means that the watch is magnetized.

Use Demagnetizer To Demagnetize The Watch

• Make sure the magnetised watch is not running and let the power reserve run down and pull the crown out to stop the movement.
• Turn on the power of the demagnetizer.
• Hold the watch around 1 to 2 centimetre above the smooth pad on the top surface of the demagnetiser.
• Press and hold the button on the device. The light should turn on to let you know it is currently working.
• Whilst holding down the button, slowly lift the watch away from the device until it is 20~30cm away, then release the button after demagnetization is completed and turn off the power.
• The above operation is a demagnetization cycle, and you can now test your watch with the compass to see whether or not it is still magnetised. You can repeat steps 1 to 4 until the watch is demagnetised.
